Superintendent Posting

The Gallia County Board of Developmental Disabilities has announced that it is accepting applications for the position of Superintendent.  The current Superintendent, Melinda Kingery, has announced that she will be retiring July 1, 2025.  Ms. Kingery has worked at the Gallia County Board in a variety of leadership roles for more than 25 years and has spent the last five years serving as Superintendent.  The Board hopes to have a successor Superintendent selected by April.  That will allow the person approximately two months to work side-by-side with Ms. Kingery and ensure a smooth transition of executive duties and functions.

The Gallia County Board of DD is located in Southeast Ohio and serves approximately 250 individuals.  The organization is committed to achieving its vision of creating a "Community that provides limitless opportunities for personal growth, participation, and contribution with a commitment to fostering a culture of respect and understanding".

The Board offers lifelong services to its citizens with developmental disabilities including early intervention, preschool, school-aged and adult support.  

The Board is seeking a Superintendent with knowledge of all aspects of County Board services and strong leadership skills. He/she must be skilled at managing complex systems and effective at representing the organization at the local and state level.  This leadership position offers a unique opportunity to directly impact the quality of life for hundreds of residents and their families.

Qualifications:  

1.  Possesses a Current Superintendent Certificate or able to obtain certificate through Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities as stipulated in OAC 5123-5-03

2.  Master's Degree or higher in a related field from an accredited college or university

3.  Five years full-time work with individuals with developmental disabilities, including three years in a management or supervisory capacity

4.  Valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driving record and proof of insurability

5.  Gallia County resident preferred, but not required

Starting Salary: Superintendent is a salaried, over-time exempt executive position subject to a management contract negotiated with the Board. Salary amount is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
